On Friday, a panel consisting of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud dismissed a plea seeking an independent probe into the death of actor Sridevi. The person who petitioned identified as Sunil Singh in his plea raised doubts over the circumstances surrounding the death of the popular actress.
In his petition, he mainly alleged that there were insurance policies that were taken on her name in Oman, which would be payable only under the condition that she dies in the United Arab Emirates. He first went to file the case in Delhi High Court, which refused to take up the case and refused it on March 9 saying that respective authorities of both India and UAE looked into the incident.
He then went to file the petition again seeking probe into Sridevi’s death. He filed the case in apex court now and again Supreme court also dismissed his plea. The person who filed the petition has nothing to do with the death of the actress Sridevi, but he himself went out all open to take a dig at the accidental death of the actress.

On February 24, Sridevi died of “accidental drowning” in her hotel bathtub after losing consciousness. At first, it was said that the actress died of cardiac arrest and later it was revealed that it was because of accidental drowning.
There were rumors that the actress was under the influence of alcohol when she fell into the bathtub and drowned. Her body was kept in the UAE for three long days and then was sent to Mumbai where her last rites were performed.
To protect her body from decomposing, embalmment procedure was performed on her at Al Maktoum Hospital Mortuary before it was released for transportation to Mumbai.
Sridevi went all the way to Dubai to attend a family wedding. She went to Oman to attend a wedding in the Kapoor family. She actively participated in all the ceremonies of the wedding before her death.
Her husband Boney Kapoor who also went for the wedding returned to India while Sridevi chose to stay back for a few days after the marriage. However, to give her a surprise, Kapoor flew back to Oman just to witness the death of his loving wife.
Sridevi was sent to the heaven with full state honors in Mumbai at the Vile Parle Seva Samaj Crematorium.
