Samsung's Galaxy Book2 is powered by SD850 chip and comes with an S Pen

Samsung announced the Galaxy Book2 - a follow up of the original Galaxy Book that launched last year and it wants to take on Microsoft's Surface Pro with a secret weapon under the hood - Qualcomm's brand new Snapdragon 850 SoC that promises good performance and great efficiency - while still powering a full-fledged Windows 10 OS.

And even though the Galaxy Book2 claims to be a just as good alternative to the Surface Pro, we can't miss the fact that the Galaxy Book2 runs a low-power SoC while the latest Surface Pro 6 packs Intel's latest quad-core ultra-low voltage processors - Core i5-8250U and Core i7-8550U, which are expected to be considerably more powerful.
Anyway, the Galaxy Book2's CPU consists of 8x ARM Kryo 385 CPU cores - 4x running at 2.96 GHz and 4x ticking at 1.7 GHz for better power efficiency. There's also a Snapdragon X20 LTE modem in there ensuring download speeds of up to 1.2 Gbps and 150 Mbps upload speeds. The tablet is offered with 4GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage.

Undoubtedly, one of the best features the device has to offer - and what the competition lacks - is the 12" Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution - 2160 x 1440 (3:2 aspect ratio). And to make the multimedia experience complete, the laptop comes with stereo AKG-tuned loudspeakers supporting Dolby Atmos.

The battery specs are yet unknown, but Samsung promises multi-workday battery life without resorting to fully shutting down the device. The Always On, Always Connected feature is enabled by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 850 chipset, which in turn guarantees four to five times longer time in connected standby compared to competing solutions.

Of course, the fingerprint reader hasn't been left out as well as the cameras - we've got an 8MP rear one and a 5MP unit on the front. The best part is that the package includes the keyboard flip cover and an S Pen. In terms of connectivity, the tablet offers 2x USB-C connectors, microSD card support and a 3.5mm audio jack. No word on which version the Type-C connectors are and we hope they're at least 3.1 Gen1.
The Galaxy Book2 will be made available through AT&T, Microsoft's and Samsung's online stores starting November 2 for $999. Sprint, AT&T and Verizon's offline stores will get it as well later in the month.
