Good News! India’s First Cruise Service From Mumbai-Goa Is Open For Sail
For those who have been eagerly waiting to sail on the cruise ship from Mumbai to Goa, here is good news. The services for the cruise ship are open now and Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT) along with Angriya Sea eagle Pvt Ltd made it happen. The cruise ship is named Angriya and it will start its first sail from the floating terminal, a part of Mumbai’s Port.
The cruise ship was named after Admiral Kanhoji Angre, the 1st admiral of the Maratha Navy. The services were launched on Wednesday evening.
Price
With a premium cost of Rs. 7000 for each passenger, the ship has started its first sail from Mumbai domestic terminal and will reach Goa on Thursday morning. Compared to other modes of transport like buses, trains, and flights, the cruise sail is a bit expensive. The cruise ship offers a wide range of luxury services to its customers at just Rs 7, 000 for a person.  It offers two meals and a brunch.
The cruise ship had many luxuries like swimming pool, open deck and a view of Konkan coastline.  The captain of the ship is Nitin Dhond who will educate and inform the guests on the ship. The ship also has a huge restaurant that can provide accommodation to approximately 350 members at a time.
A lounge is attached to one of the restaurants is best suited for wedding receptions and also for official conferences and off-shore meetings especially for corporate customers.
Accommodation
There are seven categories of rooms but as per the director Siddharth Newalkar, director, Sea Eagle Cruises, the pricing is yet to be fixed for all of these. He told FE, “We will evaluate the demand once we start marketing the cruise, based on which we will firm up our price points. However, the base price will be over Rs 7,000.”
The cruise was built targeting the domestic and foreign tourists.  The ship has eight restaurants, bars and 24 hours coffee shops to serve the guests.  The ship also has a recreation room, state-of-the-art lounge in it.
According to the Goa tourism department, the state remains a popular cruising destination with foreign cruise ships including Goa on their itineraries. On an average, the state has been receiving between 15-20 cruise vessels every year.
The state is also boosting Charter flights which were increasing day-by-day. For FY18, the state had already received 808 flights carrying 2.2 lakh passengers till the first week of March.
